The first Canberra Baroque Weekend of music from the 17th and 18th centuries is to be held at St John's from 20 - 22 October.
As well as local musicians, there will be performances by harpsichordist Rosalind Halton (Newcastle University) and baroque cellist Jamie Hey of Sydney.
St John's choirmaster, Terry Norman, will provide harpsichord accompaniment for the recorders of Robyn Mellor.
The 11.15 Sunday service will feature a Bach cantata for organ and alto, as well as a special mass setting by Buxtehude and an anthem by Monteverdi, sung by St John's Choir, expanded with a few additional voices for the occasion.
Built in 1845, the church of St John the Baptist is a historical landmark,
situated close to the centre of Canberra in Constitutional Avenue, Reid.
